Like I was telling Rikko in ICQ a little while ago, if this is him, he was running his mouth about how bad ass he was at a Starport. I was overt and he wasn't. He kept saying, "no one will duel me I am so good, blah blah". I said, "you are so bad ass you aren't overt, grats noob". So he challenged me to a duel and said no "deathblows (DBs) k?". A deathblow is just that, a final blow when the other player is incapacitated that makes it so that they either need a rez or they need to clone (release). I agreed of course, but the truth is I have /deathblow in all of my combat macros. In about 3 seconds this guy was dead, and everyone that saw this in the Starport laughed at him. There was like 40-50 people laughing at him like the noob he is. When the shuttle arrived (like the porters on a blue DAoC server) everyone left. Except for me, this dumb ass didn't end the duel after I killed him and I ran to the nearest clone center. There he was, wounded from the last death he just took. So I killed him again, then ran back to catch that shuttle before it left. Needless to say I was already getting angry tells from killing him the first time and he was shortly ignored there after.

I ran around like rebel terrorist for another hour or two then came back by this same Starport on my way home and low and behold here this guy was overt but afk. There was a AFK tag over his head. So... yep you guess it, I incapacitated him again. This time though I didn't DB, about a minute later he stood up from the incap (you auto stand when the incap is over which is about 50-70 seconds) and then I Incapped him again, and once more. Three incaps in 15 minutes equals forced clone with 5% decay on your items. So.. that is why he is so pissed off, he feels like I cheated him. Ahahhaha..

Correct that is what the add campaign is focusing on. But listen voting records, in my honest and apparently naive opinion, are meaningless in this regard. IMHO.. The two party system is by far more pluralistic than a coalition parliamentary system. Two party systems do not shut out minorities in an elective district. Parliamentary systems do. Our two party system rewards grass roots organization, pandering to minority (and I don't necessarily mean race) interests, and overall has shown higher voter participation rates than parliamentary coalition systems.

I know it's against what you read in your manifestos and hear on CNN, but there is empirical data proving that our two party system is superior to a parliamentary system when keeping the electorate's best interests at heart. Why? Because in order to succeed in this system, you have to be a lot of things to a lot of people. I am sure you think that our system is not often copied in favor of parliamentary democracies, but it is not for its inadequacies. It is because when new governments are being formed, interested parties are not willing to institute a system in which they will regularly have to compromise to reach governance.

Further, though 3rd parties are attractive for the moment, this only stems from the fact that they are usually single-issue or few-issue parties. Single-issue parties do not ever get the support they need to be a force in government. This is because no matter how great the idea is to someone or group of people, there is never enough people to back a single-issue national candidacy based on an issue that is so unique that it defines that party and is not a theme that will be picked up by national parties.

You may ask why not coalitions instead of two major parties. The reason that this is not as pluralistic is that citizens can be disenfranchised depending on where they live more easily when there are parties that cater to smaller groups of beliefs.

I am not saying parliamentary systems are bad. But America always seem to take shit for its two party system. I just think it's funny that when you take time to study it, it's actually a good system. By the way, our laws do not prevent additional parties. Recent attempts have just been lame. In our history, when a 3rd party has garnered enough support in the electorate, it has exercised power disproportionant to its following. Classic examples in our history of 3rd parties moving our government include abolition of slavery, women's suffrage, and prohibition of alcohol. All these started as third parties. Our system does not ban 3rd parties. It only filters the passions of the people until the cream rises to the top (read: Madison's Federalist #10). Or shit rises to the top depending on which side of the issue you are on. ;)

I remember a great one post-9-11 analysing the crash at the Pentagon. Stifler, popular voting systems are the most disenfranchising, most unreasonable, most irresponsible and most unfair systems out there. When you have a truly majority rule, you basically make a system of government that is intolerant to the minorities. Why don't you ask the NAACP, the Rainbow Coalition, the Latinos, and the Jewish community if they really want to go to a popular vote. It's a great slogan when you think Bush stole an election, but past that its a moronic idea. And I thought we Republicans were the evil tread on people's best interest party. You really need to stop and consider all sides of a system of government. I sat through many a class researching and debating two-party, parliamentary, popular vote, first past the poll, etc voting systems. Popular vote is by far the one with the worst repurcussions.

It's like the flat tax idea. Yeah a flat tax sounds great. But do you really want multi-millionaires to stop paying 38% in federal income tax and start paying a flat rate. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to find that the flat tax rate is going to be way higher than the 10-14% promised by the proponents. When you 5% of Americans paying 50% of the tax burden and then all of a sudden they pay 15%, where the hell does the rest come from? Popular voting systems and flat taxes look great on the surface, but in the end they fuck everybody but the most powerful interests.

The US was funding Osama Bin Laden because back then we was fighting against the Russians. It definitly made the afghan invasion a larger money drain for Russia. But didn't topple them.
It did set the financial groundwork for 9/11 and it was probably US money that indirectly funded 9/11 since the US Government had given Osama hundreds of millions between the mid 80s and the mid 90s to fight the Russians.
