Year end wrap up of the games KoT is playing and their respective active subscription count plus (trend in the last year from oct 06 to oct 07)
Vanguard : 35,000 (-64k since feb07)
Star Wars Galaxies : 54,000 (-130k)
DAoC : 95,000 (-30k)
Ultima online : 110,000 (-25k)
Everquest 2 : 185,000 (+10k)
Guild Wars : 4,500,000 (+2 mil)
World of Warcraft : 9,300,000 (+1.8 mil)
Keep in mind that Guild Wars has a 'free to play basic' model, and so 'active' subscriptions isnt really a fair labelling. Anyone who's every signed up for GW is considered to have an account, whether they play or not. I have to laugh that Vanguard is in the same subscriptions category as 'The Sims Online' and 'Puzzle Pirates', and it really demonstrates that its a dead horse and you guys should stop kicking it and get onto something that has some legs. Hell, at this point, DAoC is kicking vanguards ass!
I got all these stats from http://mmogdata.voig.com/
Doula we all know that VG has a low population. The figures you are quoting there where 1. before the server merge. 2. before even GU1 3. Now that GU3 has gone live there is more people returning to the game like crazy. Sony is planning a relaunch of this game, which will also increase the population. If these numbers actually meant anything it would state there are way to many Lemmings out there willing to let Blizzard anally violate them with W.O.W.

I dunno how you figure a server merge is going to create more subscriptions? Also, the GUI update went pretty much unreported and I'm willing to bet that the subscription numbers today are lower than they were in october. Let me see if i can find the numbers.

your less likely to come across "good" pvp'rs in a low pop game. Its easier to feel like champ, when really your just owning noobs. At least WoW has an arena balance system so the better you do the tougher your competitors are going to be. Too bad the game currently has class unbalance issues and severe gear dependency.

Yea no numbers for november yet, but I doubt they're going to reflect anything significant for Vanguard. You guys are playing a PvE game with very little PvP, no competition, and no population. Suck it up. Merry Xmas!

Dude, when you hit 70 and gear up and start playing at an elite arena level it gets pretty fucking awesome. I get all fired up an nervous energy before my arena games, i havent felt like that since high school sports.

If by 'not much better' you mean double the population and rising, plus adding new content and keeping the game current, then yea i realize that.

I cant believe that many people still play UO... jeez.
And about vanguard, on the mmorpg site it basically swept the awards for ineptitude... I could probably find a link but it was an end of the year thing people voted on from the site.
Best PvP ever was old school UO, then games got gay. Shadowbane was the best PvP game Ive played lately.
