dammit, you guys bought the ps3 version?

Before I bought it, I read reviews on which version is better and they are saying the xbox blows the ps3 out of the water in terms of graphics (with this game), which is weird, but thats what they said.

It was sold out everywhere, and I was able to get a ps3, but last min i tracked down the last copy downtown for xbox, so I bought that and returned the ps3

Well Apollo, I do own both systems and I can tell you flat out, Xbox360 is 100x better then ps3, the only good thing about a playstation is the blueray!! thats it!! I haev the new model, it doesnt even play older ps games, which is why i got it, I was so mad, I thought that was a big + for the paly station but they ruined it. it also over heats like CRY. way worse then my new xbox,

but on the other hand, ive owned 2 xboxes since my first one red ringed.

Red Dead Redemption 360 vs. PS3: our thoughts

Our review copies of Red Dead Redemption have arrived, which means it's time to get to work on some coverage. Rockstar sent both a PS3 and a 360 version of the game, and many people are wondering which version to get, so we thought we'd do a quick comparison.

This is non-scientific, but after playing an hour of both games, and switching back and forth between the two systems on our display, it's clear that the 360 version has quite the graphical advantage. It's sharper, with much less aliasing. The faces of the characters were clearer in the opening section. Gameplay sections likewise looked better, with smoother graphics across the board. The PlayStation 3 version looked impressive, but there was a noticeable jump in quality while playing on the 360.

Keep in mind that the game doesn't look bad on the PS3—not by any stretch—but based on our time with the game and direct comparisons, the 360 version looks better. If you purchase the PS3 version of the game you're not going to be let down, but if you have the choice, pick up a copy for the 360.

Here's another reason to buy the game for the Xbox 360: if you dislike playing with strangers, there are 16 Ars Technica members in the game's thread playing online with the 360 version, compared to three on the PS3. If you're going to be playing, sign up!

Why did we decide to write this post for this particular game? It's rare we get sent both copies of a game, and there has been some discussion about which one to get. Let us know if this is something you're interested in seeing in the future, and we'll try to provide more of it when we can.

Well I have to admit the graphics do seem a step down from Rockstar's other big title on the PS3, GTA4

I assumed it was because this is made by R.S. San Diego, while GTA's headed by the well established R.S. North. A X-Box port perhaps?

whoever thinks 360 is better than ps3 is retarded, i have both, ps3 is better in everyway except controller and thats it. my friend has the 360 version of rdr and i can see a major difference.. ps3 is better sorry, runs a tad smoother not alot and i havent seen any of this slow loading texter or tears that ive heard in reviews.. maybe they shouldnt drop the ps3 a dozen times before testing a game.

Dire all stores got a 30 day return policy. Go in and return that xbox version and pickup a PS3 version. Goraden I hear has it aswell, and it was a blast yesterday playing with Sith, Apollo and Doula.

Just tell the store it didn't load, and you want to try the ps3 version instead ;)

Honestly I can see some alias'n problem atm with sony version, but this game is already chopped full of bugs. There will be plenty of patches over next week and i'm sure the alias issue on PS3 will be corrected. Then again i've always been a cup is half full kinda guy!

Reason PS3 > Xbox is age of average player. Xbox is for the nerds, geeks, and highschool kids. PS3 is for us mature gamers who wanted a media center opposed to a kids gaming system.


Oh and the biggest epic move by rockstar is their voice chat. In team gang matches when you get killed you go to enemy side voice chat for some reason. Might be a glitch, but man is it ever awesome hearing the ppl you kill come into the chat going FUCK, OH SHIT, MAN FUCK THAT, and plenty of other juicy death/nerd rage! Will be having a blast online for next bit. If anything big in Darkfall is going down please give me a heads UP!. Still need my true pk fill.

ps3 is better in everyway except controller

Well I don't know if it's better in every way, but one thing it has in its favor is the controller. Up to date SNES controller FTW

Doula, Sith, Oxll, and I were tearing it up in multiplayer. We won all the matches we were in. Of course, I carried the team with my uber skills. Oxll likes to steal kills as well. He's a fag like that.

The deathmatching is pretty fun, but I really like riding around in free roam hunting other players. I think we need to be more strategic though, and not be talking as we approach... once you get to about 200 yards away or so you can hear whatever they're saying into their mic, and they can hear us so if you say "allright, get ready we're about to see them", they just heard you say that.

Which, by the way, is pretty awesome also. Its pretty hilarious hearing people get pissed off, like they jump into vent for just the time you're near them. It works pretty well, I just wish I could adjust my mic sensitivity.

Yeah, you're the hardest to hear on my end, Doula. Free roaming is fun as shit. We should find a server with a lot of people on and just ruin their PvE experience. I did that last night right before I logged off. Was in a server with just 2 other guys and rode to one of them. He was doing one of the forts and I sniped his ass. He respawned almost in the same spot and I killed him again. I got up closer and whipped out my shotgun and proceeded to hand him his ass 3 more times. At that point he plugged in his mic and started saying, "Fuck you asshole, you fucking fag, leave me the fuck alone."

I guess he didn't like my response as he logged off shortly as all he heard was;

"Hahahahaha. AHAHAHAHAAH. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAH!"

I'm serious, I couldn't stop laughing. Mainly because the last kill I got off on him was him getting pushed off a cliff. Oh, fun times.

I guess if you don't mind having the audible equivalent of a harrier jet taking off everytime you turn your system on, you should buy a XB360. The PS3 is an awesome system (the 360 is as well), just happens to be targetted more towards technophiles than the 360, and so yea most of us got that. I don't really care if the 360 version LOOKS better, because once it comes out on PC I'll never load the PS3 version again.
