View Full Version : What would make the perfect game?

Well, I've perusing the web lately looking at all the upcoming games. It got me to thinking of what I think the perfect MMORPG would be. The best game to date I have played was UO pre-noto patch, then they screwed the game miserably up. It had a good balance before...

PvP is by far the most necessary aspect of a game -to me- not to many others. But I think everyone likes a little element of risk in games. I think the town idea of UO was good, it was a safe place that people could hang out and do stuff without getting ganked. Some people played years never leaving the safe confines of a city, content crafting goods.

And that segement of the population is important... it provides the victim. A game solely built around PvP recruits only PK's into its ranks. Not that its necesarily a bad thing to have a solely PvP game... I just think that leads to repetition ala counter-strike. There's only so many times you can AWP a guy before it gets old.

EQ was the worse thing to happen to MMORPGs period. It took PvP off the map for years, we are still recovering.

DaoC was close but missed out on a few things.

SB was even closer, but still isint what old UO was.

What I think would make a great game is this:

No safe dungeons or hunting areas - I think this goes without saying.
Balance diversified class system - this I think would be the greatest challenge. It would also include merchants
Safe player created cities - ability to make you own city and be protected within it. Thus a place to hang out during down time. I also thing the cost should be upfront, not a weekly maintanence thing.
Seige System - A way of attacking someone elses city, but in a different way than currently done.. not sure what really...
Player Economy - Shops ala UO with your own vendor, with stuff made by merchants, or with stuff looted off merchants hehe.
Easy XP system - Lets face it, most people just wanna play... why make them level for 6 months before they can PvP-effectivly.

I think even though we all love the PvP, sometimes in UO we all went fishing, or mining, or macro'ed it atleast hehehe. In SB we liked our town, but it became way too much of a hassle to maintain it. I also disagree with how SB MAKES you guild after 35, leads to alot of zergs and alot of idiots wanting in. Make it beneficial to group, but not necessary.

Just my ideas, Im sure theres more
