I'll be picking up this title aswell. Definately just for the novelty, but I figure could be fun for awhile. I just know it won't come close to comparing to the thrill and rush of Darkfall, and having no full loot will hurt, but nonethless will be fun as fucking hell to attack and destroy some uber nerds flying in their Starship Enterprise all talking like Picard over their vent.
Might see me also, i shall wait a bit after it comes out though want to hear the feedback.

maybe you should figure it out and realize that DF is the one game that KoT has had a stready presence in for almost a full year now, geez, last time i checked that only happened in daoc!

Queq you are posting on a Darkfall forum in a section that is for applicants. STO is not, and never will be the main stay for KOT, its a side dish for the carebear that lives in some of us. And seriously WTF is with your bitching about us mentioning DF? Why the fuck aren't you playing it or atleast trying it?
From what i've seen I'm not gonna be playing STO. I saw ppl running thru eachother, then I saw ppl shooting THROUGH eachother, and then I saw after hours of searching not one person ganking another. On top of all this crap the Space flying part of this game looks no more evolved than Earth and Beyond, a game I found extremely boring. Not to mention every idiot gets his own ship which really takes away from the novelty of owning a ship.
Please guys get some fraps, or videos of some of the PvP action in this game. Everything i've seen so far is like some tab targeting auto combat non full loot piece of shit that has graced the mmorpg world since EQ.
Its not a PvP game. There's some PvP options, but its clearly meant to be for fans of Star Trek... of which PvP is not a high content commodity. The ship to ship combat is fun and looks fantastic, the character/ship customizations seem very broad reaching, and the design of the game is pretty nice. Ship to ship combat is very similar to the ship vs ship combat in Pirates of the Burning Sea (I didnt play Earth and Beyond though I am a big fan of the sci-fi series). It is absolutely tab-targetting auto-attack mode and though I don't know what drops when you get killed PvP, I'm sure its nothing interesting. Having said all that, I am a hardcore star-trek nerd, and so I'll be subscribed to STO as long as it can hold my interest.
It has none of the heart pumping action of Darkfall, and as Oxll says, its a side dish for the carebear that lives in some of us. I'm just getting back into MMOs as a whole after months off, and so I'll be trying to get into DFO as well and I'm not planning on leaving it again for the forseeable future. Darkfall is clearly a new chapter in MMO games, and anyone who likes PvP but isn't playing it needs their heads examined.
I am not arguing that game appears to have some staying power with KOT. Its just that in every thread on these boards some how DF propaganda (?sp?) gets in. I am looking foward to giving DF a try with everyone when I can donate some time to it. What I don't like is when every thread is Hijacked with DF. As for STO I am also a long time Trekkie and is actually how I got my gaming name of Q.
You guys need to get in and play this. As far as I know, PvP is not set up yet. I'm impressed so far with the mechanics and the ability to go from ground to space combat. While ground isn't 100% polished yet, a majority of the fighting is done in space. The space combat kicks some serious ass.
FYI, to play Klingon you need to lvl through Feds to 10 before you get the chance to play Klingon. The Klingon side is more heavily PvP oriented as you can attack other Klingons and Feds. I will be playing Klingon once I get access to it, so I hope our KoT group will be forming under the Klingon flag.
Every thread gets some DF love because the majority of active KoT are playing it right now. Remember how I was ridiculed and abused because I was not playing DAoC when everyone else stayed with it? Thats you now.Quote:
